Anche gli Eroi Muoiono Post Mortem

An Album That Begins Somewhere Else

Nine months after Anche gli Eroi Muoiono, Kid Yugi has released a longer version of it. Five new songs sit at the front, one at the back, and the record no longer opens where it used to.

Anche gli Eroi Muoiono Post Mortem is twenty-two songs and one hour nine minutes, released on 30 October 2026 by EMI Records. Kid Yugi is the constant: he is credited on all twenty-two tracks, alone on eleven of them and alongside guests on the rest. What makes the record worth an hour of attention, though, is not the count. It is the arrangement — where the songs sit, and what sitting there does to them.

This is less a new album than a rebuilt one. On 30 January 2026, Kid Yugi released Anche gli Eroi Muoiono: sixteen tracks, same label, same artwork family. Every one of those sixteen appears on Post Mortem, in the same order, at positions six through twenty-one. Six songs have been added — five at the top, one at the bottom. The record now has a new first act, a new last word, and a middle that sits a long way further from the door.

The quickest way to feel that is to look at what used to come first. L'ultimo a Cadere, two minutes forty-two, is now track six. It still does the job it did in January; it simply does it after five other songs have had their say.

The new opening act

The five songs that now open the record are Stratos (2:49), DISOBBEDIRE! with 18K (2:59), Sentire La Musica (3:26), Puglia Crime (5:11) and Il mio posto nel Mondo with Guè (2:33). Four are under three and a half minutes. The fifth is nearly double that, and it is the one that changes the shape of everything after it.

Puglia Crime runs five minutes eleven — the longest track on the album — and carries eight credited voices: Kid Yugi, RRARI DAL TACCO, Young Hash, Darié Baby, Lil Parta, Scaccia, 9x21 and LB GANG. A posse cut of that size at track four is a deliberate piece of sequencing. Convention puts a song like this late, where it can work as a climax, or hangs it off the end as a bonus. Here it arrives before the listener has settled, in the slot where most records are still establishing a mood. It is the clearest argument that this is a different record and not merely a longer one.

What moved underneath

Everything after it has shifted. The songs that formed the middle of the January album — the quieter, more enclosed ones — are now deeper into the running order, further from the opening and further from the end. Amelie was the eighth track in January; it is the thirteenth now. Tristano e Isotta has gone from eleventh to sixteenth, Per il Sangue Versato from fourteenth to nineteenth. Not one of those recordings has changed. Only the distances around them have.

A track at thirteen is heard differently from a track at eight. It arrives after the new opening act and after the first of the original songs, in the stretch of a long album where attention has either been earned or lost. Titles like those three suggest small, interior, literary frames — a film, an Arthurian story, a phrase about blood — and on a record whose new material announces itself with DISOBBEDIRE! and a posse cut called Puglia Crime, that contrast is now spread across a much longer span. That is a reading of the tracklist, not a claim about what the songs are about.

The last word, and the seams

The other end has changed too. Post Mortem closes with 64 BARRE DI TERRORE (Red Bull 64 Bars), three minutes nine — a song that was already out as a single on 23 June 2026. It is the only addition placed after the original sixteen, and it ends the album on something that has had a life of its own for four months.

The record is now made of layers: the January body; singles that preceded it, since Berserker (2:13) came out on 17 December 2025 and Push It (2:55) on 2 January 2026, both of them sitting inside the original sequence; five new songs at the front; a late single at the back. Played straight through, you can hear the joins — not as faults, but as evidence of how the thing was put together.

It is not a one-off in his catalogue, either. I Nomi del Diavolo arrived on 1 March 2024 with fourteen tracks; Tutti i Nomi del Diavolo followed on 1 November 2024 with twenty-two, same label. Fourteen to twenty-two, eight months apart. Post Mortem makes the same move at a different interval — sixteen to twenty-two, nine months — which reads less like an afterthought than a working method: the album is released, and then later the album is released again, longer, with the beginning rewritten.

Which is why it earns the hour. Post Mortem works as two records in one sleeve: the sixteen-song album from January, intact and in order, and a newer record wrapped around it at both ends. If you want the original arc, start at L'ultimo a Cadere and stop at Davide e Golia. If you want what the expanded version is actually doing, play it from Stratos to the end and notice how long it now takes to reach Amelie. Both are the same album. Only one of them starts where it used to.
