What Not To

What Not To Album ∙ Country ∙ 2025 Tucker Wetmore The title track of Tucker Wetmore’s debut album,  What Not To , holds poignant significance for the Washington-born singer-songwriter. As the “Wind Up Missin’ You” hitmaker tells Apple Music, “What Not To” is an advice song in reverse and is inspired by Wetmore’s difficult experiences with his estranged father, whose actions he believes serve as examples of how not to live a loving and fulfilled life. The wrenching tune is also imbued with hard-earned compassion for the man who abandoned Wetmore’s family, with a gut-punch of a lyric at the song’s bridge: “Momma said you don’t pray no more/Breaks my heart, so I do it for you.” “I obviously don’t talk to my dad often, and I haven’t talked to him in years,” Wetmore says. “One of the last conversations we had was him telling me that he don’t pray no more. And that’s when I said, ‘That’s all right, I’ll do it for you.’ And then we parted ways.” While “What Not To” is the beating heart of...

Morgan Wallen Essentials

Morgan Wallen Essentials Playlist ∙ 2025 Apple Music Country Born in 1993 in Sneedville, Tennessee, Morgan Wallen grew up singing harmonies with his sisters in the church where their father preached. By 2014, he’d managed to get onto and eliminated from  The Voice , but not before showing an innate versatility and relaxed style. His breakthrough came with 2017’s “Up Down,” a Southern-rock spring break anthem that radiated frosty-can cool with help from Florida Georgia Line. But his 2018 debut,  If I Know Me , proved Wallen could ride solo on cleverly penned everyman hits like “Whiskey Glasses,” a honky-tonk heartbreak sing-along about getting over your blues with something a little stronger than beer goggles. As easy as his country goes down, Wallen stays committed to exploring interesting new directions. He converted “Cover Me Up,” the signature song of anti-bro Jason Isbell, into a hymn of support for returning veterans. And in 2020, he not only held down “Heartless,” Diplo’...

Today’s Country PLAYLIST ∙  Apple Music Country Kelsea Ballerini’s long-awaited fourth album  SUBJECT TO CHANGE  is available now, and along with it comes standout track “MUSCLE MEMORY.” The breezy track finds Ballerini at her freest, with a lightness to her vocal that signals a newfound confidence from the “half of my hometown” hitmaker. Ballerini attributes some of that freedom to the unexpected downtime she suddenly found herself with during the COVID-19 pandemic, which coincided with the release of her third album,  kelsea . “I wrote my first record when I was 19 and then have been in this wonderful whirlwind since I was 20, really,” Ballerini tells Apple Music. “And I started radio tour and it hadn't really stopped until 2020. And I just had this need, in that stillness and in that space, to take inventory of my life.” This playlist tracks what’s happening from the heart of the country scene to its outer edges. Check back here early and often, and if you hear so...

Today’s Country PLAYLIST ∙  Apple Music Country Jon Pardi brings the party with his fourth studio album  Mr. Saturday Night , out now. The famously rowdy singer-songwriter pulls together an assortment of weekend jams and vulnerable ballads, with soulful standout “Your Heart or Mine” squarely in the former camp. Pardi tells Apple Music that “Your Heart or Mine” is “straight ’70s” music, apparent in the track’s Fleetwood Mac-esque harmonies and fiery guitar solo.
