Millo Gangster Club

Image
Millo Gangster Club Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Bryant Myers When Latin trap was surging in the mid- to late 2010s, Bryant Myers proved a consistent, reliably ever-present rap star. Some five years after his last solo album, 2020’s  Bendecido , he’s now linked with Rimas for this long-awaited full-length follow-up,  Millo Gangster Club . Beginning with reflective opener “Cualquiera Tiene Ticket,” he reinforces his trapero reputation while reminding listeners of his rags-to-riches come-up. Seizing the opportunity, he rightfully centers himself as an OG in his field through cuts like the DJ Nelson-produced “Burlao” and the Eladio Carrión-aided “Push.” On “5G,” he constructs a formidable posse cut with Hades66, trap capo Noriel, and longtime cohort Miky Woodz. Part of his core appeal, the sexual provocations of “Duro Ma” with Dei V and SAIKO, and “Rolling Door,” further recall of the thuggish loverman side of his catalog. And while most of the tracks find him firmly in his luxe yet grim...

ISLAND BOYZ

Image
ISLAND BOYZ Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Myke Towers By now, Myke Towers’ fans know that his artistry defies easy categorization. Even still, on 2024’s  LA PANTERA NEGRA  and its successor  LYKE MIIKE , the Puerto Rican star summarily illustrated the two most prevalent sides of his catalog. The global pop of the former and the rugged hip-hop of the latter spotlit just how far he’d come from his Latin trap roots. For others lucky enough to be in his enviable position, that might be enough of a musical foundation to spend the rest of a career honing and tweaking. And yet the frequent departures that make up  ISLAND BOYZ  show Towers valuing fulfillment over mere contentment, providing another series of lenses through which to view him. That first word of his latest album’s title offers the most glaring hint as to its contents, a tropical assortment of inherently summery songs that significantly diversify his established hitmaking sensibilities. The distinctive dancehall r...

Mixteip

Image
Mixteip Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 J Balvin Back in the summer of 2024, when J Balvin dropped the refocused and revitalized  Rayo , he revealed to Apple Music that he had three more albums’ worth of material at the ready. Given how diverse that full-length was, the Colombian hitmaker hinted that what could follow might be similarly expansive from a genre perspective. Yet regardless of whether or not  Mixteip  contains any of those recordings, this relatively shorter follow-up seizes upon the flexibility of its titular format to show a range of styles over which he can shine and thrive. Well-timed with a certain cinematic superhero’s reboot, opener “Bruz Wein” harkens back to his rise during the Latin trap surge of the mid- to late 2010s as he proffers hazy, nocturnal bars. Naturally, his status as an elite reggaetonero ensures there are plenty of dembow-driven moments like “No Te Olvido,” the slinky single “Rio,” and the comparatively poppier “Zun Zun” with Lenny Tavárez and Ju...

Sr. Santos II Sueños de Grandeza

Image
Sr. Santos II Sueños de Grandeza Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Arcángel Throughout his decades-long career, Arcángel has remained a force to reckon with in both reggaetón and hip-hop spaces, often at the same time. Yet his pivotal role in the 2010s Latin trap movement as both scene elder and savvy hitmaker kept him part of a contemporary vanguard otherwise populated by younger, hungrier talents. By the time  SR. SANTOS  dropped in 2022, his stature as a trapero was widely acknowledged and appreciated across generations of listeners. Arriving just a few years later, this robust rap-centric sequel leaves little argument against his being a Spanish-language rap G.O.A.T. contender. After laying waste on the graphic intro “Apocalipsis,” he proceeds to prove his endurance on the mic has in no way lessened. Commercial cuts like “5 Pa Las 12” with singer Maria Becerra and the emotional “Mi Peor Momento” mix with the more rugged and ruthless fare of “ABC,” “Don Francisco,” and “Sin Embargo.” Wi...

No Fue Suerte

Image
No Fue Suerte Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Chuy Montana Chuy Montana’s tragic death in 2024 ended the well-deserved ascent and the assuredly promising career that lay ahead of him. Cosigned by Fuerza Regida and signed to JOP’s Street Mob imprint, the Tijuana singer clearly had much to offer the música mexicana scene judging by his string of 2023 singles. His posthumously released debut album drives that point home, bringing back previously released material like “Marlboro Blanco” and “Ramos Buchones” alongside a number of evocative new songs. Compelling corridos such as “Qué Bendición,” one of his best known works, and the more militant title track showcase his evident talent for the format. Much of what appears here comes in the form of collaborations, with Armenta, Calle 24, and Juanpa Salazar paying homage with their presence. The aforementioned Fuerza Regida feature on two such cuts, the regret-laden romantica “Fama” with GueroX, and the defiant, forceful “Sin Chingarme A Nadie.” ...

Tropicoqueta

Image
Tropicoqueta Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 KAROL G With every album since 2017’s  Unstoppable , KAROL G progressively moved beyond expectations. Clearly not content with being the top reggaetonera on the scene, the Colombian singer refined and repositioned herself with each new full-length, from the beach dreaminess of  OCEAN  through the diverse sides of her  MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO  era. Her unapologetic eagerness to cross genre lines while still building with longtime allies like Ovy On the Drums grew her global fanbase exponentially, outpacing just about everyone else in Latin music who emerged during the mid-2010s boom. Now fully vested in the trappings of megastardom, she offers what is easily her most ambitious album to date in  Tropicoqueta , its titular portmanteau a marked pivot that reflects how reggaetón’s baddest bichota successfully evolved into one of the world’s biggest pop artists. Among the album’s triumphs is just how at ease KAROL sounds on these 20 s...

Ya No Se Llevan Serenatas

Image
Ya No Se Llevan Serenatas Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Gabito Ballesteros Rising in música mexicana via a string of 2023 and 2024 hits and fan favorites alongside some of the genre’s brightest, Gabito Ballesteros reached star status with a viral swiftness. By the time his album  THE GB  dropped, he’d become one of the more prominent young figures in the modern corridos scene. Yet on his follow-up  Ya No Se Llevan Serenatas , the singer reveals a previously muted romantic side, now fully on display as he gives voice to relatable matters of the heart. Songs like “PICASSO” and the rousing “OTRO LOKERON” show how seamlessly such themes suit his existing style. A spectrum of emotions fills the substantial album’s contents, from the jealous rage simmering on “NISSANCITA” to the conciliatory come-ons behind “DISNEYLANDIA.” His earnest performance on “ÁREA 51 V1” bolsters the track’s case for loving protections, all the more impressive when he subsequently concedes in owning flaws on the...

DON KBRN

Image
DON KBRN Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Eladio Carrión Prior to his poppy pivot on last year’s oft personal  Sol María , Eladio Carrión thrived as a trapero. A run of mixtape-style projects like 2020’s  Sauce Boyz  and two feature-free  SEN2 KBRN  installments advanced the Puerto Rican rapper’s career from underground stardom to a pivotal part of a contemporary vanguard. That peaked in 2023 with the release of  3MEN2 KBRN , a bold and boastful album that paired the bilingual artist with Future, 50 Cent, and Quavo without losing his foothold in Latin hip-hop. That uncompromising spirit and deep love for rap music persists on  DON KBRN , less a return-to-form post- Sol María  than a full-throated statement of dedication to the proverbial culture. As a lyricist, Carrión has reached a stage in his rap craft that surpasses both peers and veterans alike. This quickly becomes clear after the brief yet potent intro “Invencible” gives way to the stunning “Ohtani,” t...

GIRASOLES

Image
GIRASOLES Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Jay Wheeler “It’s like a thank-you note,” Jay Wheeler tells Apple Music about  GIRASOLES . “It’s like a letter saying I’m here for these people.” By “these people,” the Puerto Rican singer is referring specifically to his family, paying tribute to both his wife Zhamira Zambrano and their young daughter throughout this, his most personal project yet. Making the transition from R&B singing reggaetonero to full-fledged Latin pop star all but official here, he largely eschews the genre styles prevalent on his prior albums to push forward a more mature sound to match his grown-up lyricism. Indeed, apart from “Nota” with Omar Courtz and “Verte Por Ahí,” Wheeler prefers a more balladic approach across these 15 tracks. Though hip-hop has long been part of his formula, the way he repurposes its rhythms and flows for “Dañao Pa Siempre” and “Roma” feels noticeably different from, say, 2023’s  TRAPPii . Inspired by a car accident he survived, “Abrázame F...

DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS

Image
DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2025 Bad Bunny Scores of Puerto Rican artists have used their music to express love and pride in their island, but few do so with the same purposeful vigor as Bad Bunny. The superstar from Vega Baja is responsible for numerous songs that center his homeland, from unofficial national anthems like “Estamos Bien” and “El Apagón” to powerful posse cuts like “ACHO PR” with veteran reggaetón luminaries Arcángel, De La Ghetto, and Ñengo Flow. More recently, he’s been decidedly direct about his passions and concerns, expressed in vivid detail on 2024’s standalone single “Una Velita.” Positioned as his sixth proper studio album,  DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS  centers Puerto Rico in his work more so than before, celebrating various musical styles within its legacy. While 2023’s  nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana  validated his trapero past with a more modern take on the sound he emerged with in the 2010s, this follow-up largely diverges from hip-...

Papi Arca

Image
Papi Arca Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2024 Arcángel Considering how prevalent Arcángel has been in reggaetón and Latin trap in recent years, his relative silence on the new-music front in 2024 felt odd. Beyond a scant few features, the vanguard rapper seemed on hiatus, all but certain to break his streak of dropping yearly solo projects that began with 2018’s  Ares . Thankfully, the surprise release of  Papi Arca  in the final weeks of December maintains his admirable release record. The nine-track effort demonstrates his signature style over several musical modes—spitting toughened rhymes with that unmistakable rasp on opener “La Franquicia” and ending as a romantic reggaetonero for “Besitos Pa’ Esas Nalgas.” Between those bookends, he keeps things mostly collaborative, subtly interpolating a J. Cole smash with Eladio Carrión on the R&B-driven “BFF” and recounting sexual conquests alongside Sech on the rugged “La Varita.” Still, a veteran of his caliber doesn’t require guests to...

ARMAGEDÓN

Image
ARMAGEDÓN Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2024 HUMBE “I think, in some way, that the universe made it, not even myself,” HUMBE tells Apple Music about  ARMAGEDÓN . “Everything fell together in the [most] perfect way possible, and that’s something that really makes me think and wonder if we’re actually in a fucking simulation.” While the Monterrey-based singer-songwriter may ponder whether something divinely astral birthed his latest release, he nonetheless deserves credit for pulling off such a heady concept record. Designed and sequenced as a seamless start-to-finish listening experience, the album noticeably diverges from the themes and vibes of his prior full-lengths  AURORA  and  ESENCIA . Drawing inspiration from a ’90s disaster blockbuster of the same name, it uses the idea of a meteor heading for Earth as both metaphor and allegory for problematic romantic relationships. Cosmic calamity looms large, starting with the unmistakably apocalyptic cover artwork and carrying ...

BUENAS NOCHES

Image
BUENAS NOCHES Album ∙ Latin ∙ 2024 Quevedo At the start of 2023, Quevedo unveiled his debut album,   DONDE QUIERO ESTAR , to considerable acclaim and chart success in his home country of Spain. For his follow-up,   BUENAS NOCHES , he makes a more pronounced pivot toward pop, albeit in a multifaceted manner. Opener “KASSANDRA” glistens with nostalgic synthesizer flourishes as he admires a powerful woman from afar. “DURO” maintains that maximalist bent, an aesthetic that suits the breakup ruminations of “NOEMÚ” and the playboy apologies of “IGUALES” well. He plays well with others regardless of genre, as demonstrated on the electro-rock duet “GRAN VÍA” with Aitana and the slo-mo reggaetón team-up “TE FALLÉ” with Sech. Perreo drives choice collaborations with De La Ghetto (“AMANECIÓ”) and La Pantera (“HALO”), yet his Pitbull-backed “MR. MOONDIAL” goes full EDM in execution. That unbridled dance-floor thump is countered by the sleek hip-hop fusions of “LA 125” with Yung Beef and “...
