COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES - EP

Image
COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES - EP Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 CORTIS Like Big Hit Entertainment labelmates BTS before them, the members of boy group Color Outside the Lines, or CORTIS, burst onto the K-pop scene eager to tell their own stories of youth. From the exclamatory trap anthem “GO!” to grunge-rock lead single “What You Want” to reference-heavy hip-hop track “FaSHioN,” teen members James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho strive to be seen as a group that doesn’t fit into any of the traditional K-pop boxes—and “for the whole world to know [their] name.” But it’s comparatively minimalist EP tracks like “JoyRide” and “Lullaby” that have some of the most unexpected things to say. On the latter—a hazy, acoustic ode to an already weary Generation Z—CORTIS interrupts a serenade of  ooh s with a shouted yet still soothing refrain: “I GOT WORK/YOU GOT WORK/BUT IN THIS MOMENT/QUIET FIRST.” A valuing of respite alongside the boldest of global pop ambitions.

The DECADE

The DECADE Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 DAY6 Ten years after starting out at a tiny club in the Hongdae region, DAY6 hasn’t let stardom erase their humble beginnings, and this fourth studio album—aptly titled  The DECADE —is a celebration of those precious early days. Each of its 10 songs features contributions from all four members, making it a truly personal project. While their signature pop-punk sound is to the fore, the group also eyes the dance floor with disco-inspired grooves. What’s more, the choice to name two lead singles (hybrid bop “INSIDE OUT” and the soaring “Dream Bus”) signals their growing confidence—this is a band who knows exactly what they’re about. And below, they share with Apple Music their thoughts on the album’s tracks. “Dream Bus” SUNGJIN: “A typical DAY6 tune. Though it’s not mandatory, wouldn’t it be better to have dreams while going through life? We’d like to cheer on everyone and their dreams.” “INSIDE OUT” Young K: “The tune’s moods shift like a roller-coast...

NEVER SAY NEVER

Image
NEVER SAY NEVER Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 ZEROBASEONE With the end of their initial contract looming, ZEROBASEONE (also known as ZB1) released their first full-length album: 2025’s  NEVER SAY NEVER . For the K-pop squad formed out of the 2023 survival show  Boys Planet , the 10-track album represents both a celebration of everything the nine members accomplished in the first two years of their career through their Youth trilogy and Paradise duology, and a powerful sense of ephemerality linked to the group’s uncertain future. Nu-disco groove lead single “ICONIK” harnesses both album functions. “We can make history, yes, I know that,” members SUNG HAN BIN and ZHANG HAO chant together in the track’s interlude, in between funk-infused choruses that bring listeners “on top of the moon” as the members sing of their gravity-defying ambition. Anime-inspired hip-hop dance track “SLAM DUNK” keeps things much closer to the ground, while the sensual “Lovesick Game” and sunny “Goosebumps” explo...

KARMA

Image
KARMA Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 Stray Kids No one does boastful bangers like Stray Kids. The fourth-generation K-pop group has found some of their biggest successes with bravado-led, relentlessly high-energy tracks like 2020’s “God’s Menu,” 2022’s “MANIAC,” 2023’s “LALALALA,” and 2024’s “Chk Chk Boom.” The fact that all were written by 3RACHA, the group’s hip-hop subunit (composed of members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han), grounds the songs in an authenticity arguably necessary to pull off Stray Kids’ “noise music” concept. On 2025’s  KARMA , “BLEEP” is the most reminiscent of this signature “SKZ” style, but Stray Kids chose the comparatively low-key track “CEREMONY” as the lead single off of their fourth full-length album, released shortly after the conclusion of Stray Kids’ year-long, 54-show Dominate World Tour. In this context, “CEREMONY”’s hooky claim “Yeah, we gon’ celebrate ’cause we got good/Karma, karma, karma, karma” is a triumphal ritual cleanse. 3RACHA took the writing and co...

Chaotic & Confused - EP

Image
Chaotic & Confused - EP Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 JEON SOMI When South Korean Canadian singer JEON SOMI debuted in I.O.I in 2016, she wasn’t just a breakout—she was the first-place finisher among 101 contestants competing for a spot in the girl group through the K-pop survival show  Produce 101 . I.O.I would be short-lived, but JEON SOMI’s career continued on. She debuted as a pop soloist under The Black Label with 2019’s “BIRTHDAY.” In 2021, she released the pop-anthem album  XOXO , and in 2023 she returned with the electropop EP  GAME PLAN . 2025’s  Chaotic & Confused  was a reintroduction of sorts for the K-pop soloist, embracing a more subdued sound for an introspective exploration of the endemic uncertainty of modern living. Lead single “Closer,” a stutter house track that samples Sean Kingston’s 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” represents a hazy escape from the post-punk toxicity of the central relationship in “Escapade” or the mad confusion of the EP’s inte...

Artwork The Star Chapter: TOGETHER

Image
The Star Chapter: TOGETHER Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 TOMORROW X TOGETHER In 2024’s  The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY , K-pop boy group TOMORROW x TOGETHER (aka TXT) used the “language of the stars” to continue their story of adolescent angst. A year later,  The Star Chapter: TOGETHER  continued and concluded the group’s fourth “chapter,” exploring the group’s central theme of “together” across eight tracks. In synth-driven album-opener “Upside Down Kiss,” togetherness is at its most sensual (“Baby girl, let’s get freaky”). The theme gets more abstract in EDM-trap lead single "Beautiful Strangers,” which could easily be about the bond between TXT and their fans, known as MOA (“We do it for love/Don't forget, forever”). Perhaps ironically for an album subtitled “TOGETHER,”  The Star Chapter: TOGETHER  marks the first time a TXT release has included solo songs from every member. In the reggae-inspired “Ghost Girl,” Yeonjun sings about an all-encompassing attraction, while So...

PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE (LIVE)

Image
PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE (LIVE) Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 BTS When BTS held their Permission to Dance on Stage concerts in Los Angeles in late 2021, the K-pop group known for their meticulous, vibrant performances hadn’t been in front of a live audience in more than two years. The short tour would include 12 concerts across three cities (Los Angeles, Seoul, and Las Vegas) and a set list that combined some of BTS’s most enduring hits (e.g. “Burning Up (FIRE),” “Blood Sweat & Tears,” “Spring Day”) with tracks the group had never before performed in front of fans due to the ongoing pandemic (e.g. “ON,” “Black Swan,” “Life Goes On”). In mid-2025, after their return from mandatory military service, the Korean septet released an album version of the historic performances titled  Permission to Dance on Stage . It includes 22 tracks that featured on the Permission to Dance on Stage set list, including remixed versions of their 2019 Halsey funk-pop collaboration “Boy with Luv” and Englis...

Go Back To The Future

Image
Go Back To The Future Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 NCT DREAM Ever since  Back to the Future  was first released in 1985, the phrase “Back to the Future” has evoked a sense of boundary-breaking adventure. The Hollywood blockbuster works surprisingly well as inspiration for K-pop boy group NCT DREAM’s fifth studio album. As part of the sci-coded SM Entertainment project Neo Culture Technology (aka NCT), the septet has experience taking on a high-concept theme. But more than that, NCT DREAM is a group that started with one concept—an ever-rotating lineup of teen idols—before settling into a fixed, seven-member lineup. The fates of members MARK, RENJUN, JENO, HAECHAN, JAEMIN, CHENLE, and JISUNG could have been much different, and NCT DREAM uses the movie, about a teen boy who travels back in time to when his parents first fell in love only to inadvertently erase his own existence, to inspire a look back at their own group origins. “BTTF” (short for “Back to the Future”) fully embraces its...

THIS IS FOR (DELUXE)

Image
THIS IS FOR (DELUXE) Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 TWICE In their first decade as a nine-member K-pop girl group, TWICE became masters at exploring new facets of their concept without ever losing the unwavering cheerfulness that defines it. For  THIS IS FOR , TWICE’s fourth full-length album since their 2015 debut, the third-generation squad slides into a comparatively subdued cool-girl persona to explore overlapping themes of female empowerment and romantic frustration, artfully navigating the space between K-pop’s “girl crush” and “bubblegum pop” false binary. The cool-girl persona is especially on display in  THIS IS FOR ’s title track, a high-energy song that starts with a chuckle and a shout-out: “This is for all my ladies who don’t get hyped enough/If you’ve been done wrong, then this your song, so turn it up.” TWICE makes room for feelings of otherness on “THIS IS FOR” before using the synth-pop bop “MARS” to expand on the theme: “Do you ever feel like/You don’t belong in the wo...

GOLDEN HOUR : Part.3 'In Your Fantasy Edition'

Image
GOLDEN HOUR : Part.3 'In Your Fantasy Edition' Album ∙ K-Pop ∙ 2025 ATEEZ The day after the eight members of ATEEZ announced the signing of an additional seven-year contract at KQ Entertainment, the K-pop boy group released  GOLDEN HOUR : Part.3 ‘In Your Fantasy Edition’ . While technically a repackage of ATEEZ’s June 2025 release  GOLDEN HOUR : Part.3 , the album includes mostly new tracks, including English and Korean versions of lead single “In Your Fantasy” and solo tracks for each member. ATEEZ’s main producer, EDEN, and rapper-leader Hongjoong took songwriting lead on the 15-track album, including for “In Your Fantasy,” a pulsating, “SexyBack”-esque track that encourages the listener to give in to desire. The entire song leans into the unabashed sexiness of ATEEZ’s  GOLDEN HOUR  era, as do solo tracks like vocalist Seonghwa’s “Skin” (“The way she moves, wildfire/Exploding desire/Wanna see you go higher/It’s written on my skin”). Other solo tracks include Hongjo...
