JEON SOMI

When South Korean Canadian singer JEON SOMI debuted in I.O.I in 2016, she wasn’t just a breakout—she was the first-place finisher among 101 contestants competing for a spot in the girl group through the K-pop survival show Produce 101. I.O.I would be short-lived, but JEON SOMI’s career continued on. She debuted as a pop soloist under The Black Label with 2019’s “BIRTHDAY.” In 2021, she released the pop-anthem album XOXO, and in 2023 she returned with the electropop EP GAME PLAN.

2025’s Chaotic & Confused was a reintroduction of sorts for the K-pop soloist, embracing a more subdued sound for an introspective exploration of the endemic uncertainty of modern living. Lead single “Closer,” a stutter house track that samples Sean Kingston’s 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” represents a hazy escape from the post-punk toxicity of the central relationship in “Escapade” or the mad confusion of the EP’s intentionally capricious title track. Elsewhere, laidback dance track “EXTRA” and R&B ballad “DELU” further espouse the pitfalls of modern love.

While touring his 2024 album  Found Heaven , he would finish shows and sketch demos with zero stakes attached.
